Introduction

Our purpose in writing this series is that God would use us as instruments to help you become aware of the eternally glorious realm that you have entered into by having completely trusted Jesus Christ as your Saviour. This is a realm that is far above the one that you have been walking in; a calling the world cannot hear; a calling of true joy and durable riches far above what this generation is offering you; a calling where one can have the privilege and benefits of actually walking with God through this deceptive and troubled age; a calling that starts with a spiritual birth (being born again); a calling which continues to open up to you as you grow in Christ; a calling that will continue on throughout eternity; a special calling; a high calling!

In His words, then, our purpose is, “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power.” (Ephesians 1:17-19)

By the grace of our God, our hearts will always be to magnify and bring to you not our words but, rather, His words from His book, the Bible, teaching you His truth. As you now study God’s Word, we say to you, as the Apostle Paul did, “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” (Acts 20:32)

Therefore, "Study to show thyself approved unto God” and learn to rightly divide the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15). This program is not designed to be studied alone but is meant to be used in a discipleship setting of two or three people. Do not let your studies become mechanical or the results will be profitless. The Holy Spirit must be your guide. He really is the only true teacher (John 16:13; 1 Corinthians 2:13; 1 John 2:27). Follow His leading as you choose each theme for study and respond to His directives as He dictates the order in which you should move from point to point. Structure is fine, but let Him define the path of learning. Diligently compare scripture with scripture (1 Corinthians 2:13) and search out each scripture in context to determine whether these things are so (Acts 17:11). We have suggested some memory verses, but commit to memory the specific scriptures to which He speaks to you. The key to the success of this program will not be found in the quality of the material, but will be found in your desire to learn (Proverbs 18:1) and your sincere interaction with a godly, spiritual brother who can take this material and apply it to your needs.
